G & M Tree Service is fully Licensed Bonded and Liability Insured for your protection. All of our employees are covered by Workers Compensation Insurance. Certificates of Insurance is available upon request. Please allow 3-5 business days for a certificate to be faxed to your office.
Tips for hiring a tree service professional:
1. When getting an estimate meet the estimater face to face. They should be dressed professionally.
2. Seek recommendations from neighbors, friends, or business associates.
3. Make sure they are not a fly by night...real tree service professionals will have a web site, advertise in the Yellow-pages, and have business cards and be willing to provide certificates of insurance for workers compensation and liability insurance. Don't be afraid to ask for these documents. Homeowners have been held responsible for tree workers injuries on their property and left holding the bag when they damaged your property.
4. Get it all in writing, unfortunately this day and age we can't take a persons word for it, they may come out, do the work and then try to charge you more. You should get all work written out in detail with prices. Bid sheets should have the Companies Logo and information on it, do not accept just a generic form from an office supply store everyone has access to these forms. Last have them sign the estimate.
5. After a storm, really be aware....Storm Chasers are typically a guy with a truck, trailer and a chainsaw going door to door. They may even have a big truck, but should still be able to provide insurance certificates. If you don't get one in your hand DO NOT LET THEM DO THE WORK you are taking a big risk. Non professionals will give you all the excuse in the book why they can't get you a certificate (RED FLAG).
6. Never Never Never pay in full before the work is completed. Get a receipt showing you have paid in full when work is complete especially if you are paying by cash.
7. Use common sense, if it sounds to good to be true it probably is...
8. Cheaper is not always better. Professionals pay a lot of money to maintain their equipment, train employees, and cover insurance expenses. Tree service companies pay some of the highest insurance premiums because of the dangerous nature of the business. The tree service industry is more dangerous then working as a police officer or fireman according to TCIA. So please take this into consideration when hiring a professional, you get what you pay for. Hiring a professional is knowing your job will be handled professionally, timely, effectively, and as safely as possible.
